Sell or Trade Terms
Sell or Trade — Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 20 October 2026
Thank you for considering PPP Cameras when selling or trading your photographic equipment.
We purchase a range of second-hand cameras, lenses and photographic accessories, offering competitive valuations based on condition, functionality and current market demand.
These Terms & Conditions explain our quotation, inspection, purchasing and part-exchange processes.
1. About Us
PPP Cameras is an independent photographic equipment business based in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
For enquiries regarding selling or trading equipment, please contact:
Email: info@pppcameras.co.uk
Website: www.pppcameras.co.uk
2. Equipment We Purchase
We consider a range of photographic equipment, including:
Analogue film cameras
Photographic lenses
Medium-format and large-format equipment
Selected photographic accessories
Specialist and collectible photographic equipment
We may also consider faulty or non-working equipment where it has suitable restoration, resale or parts value.
All purchases are subject to our assessment of condition, market demand and commercial suitability.
We reserve the right to decline equipment that does not meet our purchasing requirements.
3. Requesting a Valuation
Customers can request an initial valuation through our website by providing details of the equipment they wish to sell or trade.
Please provide accurate information, including the manufacturer, model, condition, functionality, accessories and any known faults.
Photographs may be requested to assist with our assessment.
Initial valuations are based on the information supplied and are provisional until we have inspected the equipment.
An initial quotation does not constitute a binding purchase agreement.
We are under no obligation to purchase equipment simply because an initial quotation has been provided.
4. Equipment Condition & Disclosure
Customers must disclose any known faults or issues that could affect an item's value or functionality.
These may include:
Mechanical or electrical faults
Fungus, haze or damage to optical components
Shutter or exposure inaccuracies
Water damage, corrosion or evidence of moisture exposure
Previous repairs or modifications
Missing components or accessories
Significant cosmetic damage
Other defects affecting operation or resale value
Equipment may be inspected internally where reasonably necessary to establish its condition and value.
Our assessment may include testing mechanical functions, electrical systems, lenses, viewfinders and other relevant components.
Because vintage photographic equipment can contain faults that are not immediately visible, the final valuation may differ from the initial quotation.
We will explain any material findings that affect our offer.
5. Sending Equipment for Inspection
Once an initial valuation has been discussed, we will provide instructions for submitting equipment for inspection.
Equipment may be delivered in person or sent using an agreed postal or courier service.
Where we offer a collection service, the arrangements and any applicable charges will be confirmed beforehand.
Customers arranging their own delivery are responsible for choosing suitable packaging, postage and insurance.
We strongly recommend using a tracked, adequately insured service.
Customers should retain proof of postage and any relevant tracking information.
Once equipment has been received, we will take reasonable care of it while it remains in our possession.
Responsibility for loss or damage during transit will depend on who arranged the delivery, the agreed terms and applicable law.
6. Inspection & Final Valuation
All equipment is subject to inspection before a final purchase offer is confirmed.
We aim to inspect submitted equipment promptly, although the time required may vary depending on the quantity, condition and complexity of the items.
Inspection may identify previously undisclosed faults, missing accessories or differences from the original description.
Where the equipment matches the information provided, we may confirm our initial valuation.
Where material differences are identified, we may issue a revised offer.
We reserve the right to withdraw an initial quotation or decline a purchase following inspection, provided no binding purchase agreement has already been formed.
7. Revised Offers
If our inspection identifies issues affecting the equipment's value, we will contact you with a revised quotation and an explanation of the relevant findings.
You may choose to:
Accept the revised offer.
Decline the offer and request the return of your equipment.
You are not obliged to accept a revised valuation.
If you decline our revised offer, we will arrange the return of your equipment at our expense, unless alternative arrangements were expressly agreed beforehand.
No transfer of ownership will take place merely because a revised quotation has been issued.
8. Acceptance & Transfer of Ownership
A purchase agreement is formed when both parties expressly agree to the final valuation and the terms of the transaction.
For equipment purchased outright, ownership transfers to PPP Cameras once the agreed purchase price has been paid in full, unless a different arrangement has been expressly agreed in writing.
Until ownership transfers, equipment remains the property of the seller.
Following completion of the sale, PPP Cameras may refurbish, repair, dismantle, resell or otherwise use the equipment at our discretion, subject to applicable law.
Once a completed sale has taken place, the seller cannot ordinarily withdraw from the agreement simply because they have changed their mind.
This does not affect any rights arising from misrepresentation, breach of contract or other applicable law.
9. Payment
Payments for equipment purchased outright are normally made by bank transfer.
Once a final valuation has been accepted, we will request the information necessary to arrange payment.
For UK bank accounts, this will generally include the account holder's name, sort code and account number.
International payments may require additional information and may be subject to banking charges or restrictions.
Customers are responsible for providing accurate payment details.
PPP Cameras may request additional verification where reasonably necessary to prevent fraud or payment errors.
We will take reasonable care when processing payments using the details provided.
If payment cannot be completed, we will contact the customer to resolve the issue.
Equipment will not become the property of PPP Cameras solely because a customer has delayed providing payment details.
10. Part Exchange & Trade-In
Customers may choose to trade eligible photographic equipment towards another product sold by PPP Cameras.
Part-exchange valuations are subject to the same inspection and acceptance procedures as outright purchases.
The agreed trade-in value will be applied towards the purchase of the selected equipment.
Any remaining balance must be paid before the replacement equipment is dispatched or collected, unless otherwise agreed.
Part exchanges are subject to stock availability.
Where a product is being held pending inspection of trade-in equipment, the reservation period and any applicable conditions will be confirmed separately.
Where a consumer purchases goods from PPP Cameras as part of a trade-in arrangement, their applicable statutory rights concerning the goods supplied by PPP Cameras remain unaffected.
Any cancellation, refund or reversal of a part-exchange transaction will be assessed according to the agreed arrangements and applicable law.
11. Ownership & Right to Sell
By offering equipment to PPP Cameras, you confirm that:
You are the lawful owner of the equipment or have proper authority to sell it.
The equipment has not been stolen or obtained unlawfully.
The equipment is not subject to an undisclosed finance agreement, ownership dispute or other restriction preventing its sale.
The information you provide regarding ownership and provenance is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
We may request proof of identity, purchase documentation or other evidence of ownership where reasonably necessary.
We reserve the right to decline a transaction where ownership cannot be satisfactorily established.
If equipment is reasonably suspected of being stolen or unlawfully obtained, we may suspend the transaction and contact the relevant authorities.
12. Personal Data & Items Left in Equipment
Before submitting equipment, please remove any film, memory cards, personal accessories and other items not included in the proposed sale.
Where applicable, customers should delete personal information stored on electronic equipment.
PPP Cameras will take reasonable care when handling any personal information or possessions discovered during inspection.
If we identify items that appear to have been included unintentionally, we will take reasonable steps to contact the owner and arrange their return where practicable.
We may securely erase personal data from equipment acquired by PPP Cameras where necessary and lawful.
Please be aware that once a completed sale has taken place, data or media remaining on equipment may not be recoverable.
Our handling of personal information is subject to our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection law.
13. Declined Purchases & Returning Equipment
If we decline to purchase your equipment, or you reject our final offer, we will arrange for its return or collection.
Where PPP Cameras has offered a free inspection and return service, no return postage fee will be charged unless a different arrangement was clearly agreed in advance.
Customers must provide a valid return address and respond to reasonable requests necessary to arrange return delivery.
We will package equipment appropriately and use a suitable delivery service.
If equipment is delayed, lost or damaged during a return shipment arranged by PPP Cameras, we will investigate the circumstances and address any responsibility in accordance with applicable law.
14. Uncollected or Unclaimed Equipment
If we are unable to complete a purchase or arrange the return of equipment because a customer has not responded to our communications, we will make reasonable attempts to contact them using the details provided.
Equipment will remain the customer's property unless ownership has lawfully transferred.
Where equipment remains uncollected or return arrangements cannot be completed, PPP Cameras may issue formal written notice requesting collection or providing instructions for return.
If the customer does not respond within the period specified in a legally compliant notice, we may take further steps permitted by applicable law in relation to uncollected goods.
Any sale or disposal of uncollected equipment will be undertaken only where lawful, with any applicable accounting obligations observed.
Failure to respond to a quotation or provide payment details does not automatically transfer ownership of equipment to PPP Cameras.
15. Responsibility & Liability
PPP Cameras will take reasonable care of equipment received for inspection or awaiting completion of a transaction.
We are not responsible for pre-existing faults, deterioration or damage that did not arise from a breach of our obligations.
Inspection may involve operating or testing older mechanical and electronic equipment, some of which may already be fragile or defective.
We will use reasonable care and skill when carrying out such assessments.
Where equipment is lost or damaged through our failure to meet an applicable legal or contractual obligation, responsibility will be assessed according to the circumstances and applicable law.
Nothing in these terms excludes or restricts liability where doing so would be unlawful.
16. Business Sellers & VAT
Customers selling equipment in the course of business must disclose this before completing a transaction.
Where VAT is chargeable on the sale to PPP Cameras, this must be agreed as part of the final valuation.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, our agreed offer represents the total amount payable for the equipment.
VAT-registered business sellers may be required to provide an appropriate sales invoice.
Customers remain responsible for their own tax obligations arising from the sale of equipment.
17. Exceptional Circumstances
Occasionally, circumstances beyond our reasonable control may delay inspections, collections, returns or payments.
Where this occurs, we will take reasonable steps to minimise disruption and communicate significant delays.
This provision does not remove any rights or responsibilities that cannot lawfully be excluded.
18. Privacy
We process personal information supplied during the quotation and purchasing process in accordance with applicable data protection law and our Privacy Policy.
Information may be used to provide quotations, verify ownership, arrange collection, complete payments and maintain appropriate business records.
19. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms & Conditions periodically to reflect changes in our purchasing procedures, services or legal obligations.
The terms applicable to an agreed transaction will ordinarily be those in effect when the agreement was formed.
